Food Producers in Dumfries & Galloway

Dumfries and Galloway houses some amazing food producers, below are the those which we support.

First established in February 1996, Sulwath Brewery takes great pride in the production of products which are brewed traditionally using only 100 percent natural ingredients. The softness of the local water also plays a vital role in producing beers that have a rounded and mellow flavour, without the harshness that harder water tends to create.

Tom van Rooyen is passionate about food and cooking. His baking is inspired by a fusion of seasonal, local home cooking and creative influences from cultures across the globe. Brought up on a Dumfries and Galloway smallholding, he has since travelled and worked around the world. Returning to Dumfries and Galloway in 2000 with his wife Pavlina, Tom worked as a cook for a local events centre where he became known for his curries, risottos, soups and of course his baking. Having to cater for a wide variety of special diets led Tom to experiment with different flours, and longer slower baking methods such as sourdough.

In 2011 Tom set up The Earth’s Crust Bakery with the aim of providing real bread to his local community. (Sadly due to a fire the bakery is currently out of action, but they will be back...)

Galloway Chillies grow chilli plants, from the mild through to the super hot, and produce a range of chilli based preserves.  They attend a number of markets in the region and central belt on a regular basis, and we have over 20 regular stockists in Scotland, plus our newest stockist in South West England.

Wee Sweetie Creates a mind-boggling range of handmade sweeties including pulled sugar and boiled sweets, fudge, toffee slabs and coins, nut brittles, caramels, pralines, coconut ice and Gourmet bacon sweets in a wide variety of flavours and colours from old-fashioned childhood varieties to very modern creations.  Known for pushing flavour boundaries with innovative and exciting combinations to suit all tastes. Seasonal, limited edition sweets and menus are frequently showcased.  Always 100% natural, handmade and ethical with a strong local focus, highlighting the outstanding produce available in Dumfries & Galloway.
